Stripped the site of competent, proven and knowledgable key staff. cut manufacturing lead times in half, redesigned processes, reorganised, reduced stock levels and costs = a factory that now struggles to produce quality products..... 130 back orders record numbers. no wonder the poor guy decided to jump ship. look after No 1.

Can you share with us more info regarding who's taking over, who else left and why so many backorders (probably why they canned EF in the first place).

With EF leaving next month we are expecting an overhaul here in Wales. Not sure how it will effect the bottom line though. We were told if the backorder issues continue things could get nasty. Doesn't sound good to me.

So who's running the show at Llanberis now that EF has vacated? Well, whomever is in charge also is in charge of LA as well. As a customer, this should be interesting.
Some "ex" Siemens DX'ers are with us now and apparently they heard a few other Llanberis spots also opened up as with any changing of the guard.
Our sales rep. (back against wall) finally admitted Llanberis is,once again, knee deep in backorder problems.

So how's the Centaur? Worth switching over to?

No, I have never been there, however, I suspected that the facility there was the only employer of its type in the area. I understand that other opportunities would require relocation, in particular, for technical positions. That fact is unchanged whether one tries to get another job today whilst Llanberis is still operational or if it were to close. In either case, relocation would be a necessity. The difference is that if Llanberis were to close, everyone there would be looking for jobs at the same time. I can't say for sure that it will close, but unless it takes on new responsibilities, its fate is tied to the fate of Immulite and that isn't good news.

As I said in my other post, my advice is to keep your eyes and ears open, both internally, and for the possibility of a career move. Ultimately, each individual must make his or her own decisions, but the more information one has, the better ones decisions generally are.

So you have never been there then! only other opportunities are working in the local gift shop selling fudge or retire early.

Are there any plans for expanding the Llanberis Facility?

Well, at least it looks like LA still has some life left in it.
How are the other sites holding up.
Shortly after I left Tarrytown they had some layoffs announced. That was over a year ago.
It doesn't look like DX has done much better since then.

People in LA were told PETNET is moving in. A branch of Siemens Imaging I believe. A building retrofit for this group will cost millions and 1-2years construction. Immulite will continue having 1/2 the building since no layoffs have been announced.
Llanberis only handles the Immulite product line.
Whomever takes over for EF will also be in charge of LA as well.
Just have to wait and see.

Unless Llanberis takes on new functions that do not relate to Immulite, they will eventually suffer the same fate as LA. This would show up now as inattentiveness on the part of upper management when it comes to the goings on in Llanberis. You wouldn't spend a lot of time or effort to fix up a place you intend to close in the next 5-7 years. So I wonder if there are other non-Immulite-related products made in Llanberis or whether there is any talk of taking on other products in the future.

If I were working in Llanberis, I would keep my eyes and ears wide open and look for any signs along these lines. You might even inquire of management what the plans are as Immulite phases out. And depending on what your are seeing and hearing, I would keep my eyes and ears open for other career opportunities.

Maybe so but you can't just blame him and Llanberis for that.
He held it together for 3years. Considering the counterparts he deals with he's lucky to have lasted this long.
Whether he's leaving on his own or told to leave it's in his best interest and will do quite well elswhere.

Sounds like his honeymoon period was over and Siemens lost patience with record Immulite backorders!

He lasted 3 years. For DX that's a lifetime.
