Hi, this is a little off topic, but has anyone here worked for Randox?
Good/bad?

Qiagen schließt Forschung in Altona mit 80 Beschäftigten

Biotech-Konzern verlagert Forschungsstandort nach Manchester. 80 Mitarbeiter, darunter hochqualifizierte Wissenschaftler, verlieren Job.

Hamburg. Die Nachricht kam überraschend. Der Biotech-Konzern Qiagen verlagert seinen Forschungsstandort in Hamburg nach Manchester. 80 Mitarbeiter, darunter hochqualifizierte Wissenschaftler, verlieren ihren Job.

It is never ending. Moral

It is never ending. Moral is low and I think now many realize that they may not be included in he mover to G'Town. But it isn't easy anymore to find comparable employment if you are over 40 and less for each year over 40. Good luck to all because you are going to need it.

And you must be in management

And you must be in management at Qiagen, typical lingo convincing the rank and file of how great they are treated, but it does not stop the letting go of staff to meet quarterly numbers. Thoughts?

This is all due to OBAMA

This is all due to OBAMA MOMMA CARE. They have cut reimbursements for PCR so low that nobody can even affor it

Can it really be that bad

Can it really be that bad there at Qiagen? I have always heard that they treat the employees very well with subsidized lunches and refreshments, on site fitness facility, and periodic cook outs, picnics and parties. perhaps we have postings here on the Rumor Mill from the disgruntled former employees that are a problem with all businesses that just want to bring harm to this company. Thoughts?

Death by 1000 cuts. Soon we

Death by 1000 cuts. Soon we will no longer bleed when we are cut. Just let out a sad little whimper..

Another very, very sad aspect

Another very, very sad aspect to all of these ongoing layoffs, despair and thinning of the herd are all of those unfortunate souls left behind now that do not have enough common sense to see the BOLD "writing on the wall" and get themselves OUT of this spiralling toxic but once proud former Digene company. Especially the poor devils in GTB as they sit aimlessly and in a stupor as they watch their employer lay off their colleagues one by one and close the facility down for good - they will be shown the door just like the rest. Very sad to see this inaction of these paralyzed "cannon fodder" employees. Get out on your own terms before your time comes and they doit for you..tik tok...tik tok...

Is it really so in 2013 ??? I

Is it really so in 2013 ??? I was a 2011 in Germany.Very sad...

And we continue the parade in

And we continue the parade in 2013. ....

Not sure where on earth you

Not sure where on earth you heard there were no layoffs at QIAGEN in 2012....I am one of them and there were 35 others in GTN/GTB and an additional 30++ in Germany. Open your eyes!! Just so you know....we are ALL in a better place!

If you have that nagging

If you have that nagging feeling that you will not be part of the move to GTB. I suggest that you listen to your inner self and get busy looking for a job.

Not to mention the CDC

Not to mention the CDC recommendation last year. Keep dreaming what could have been with your test becoming primary test during gyn checkups. Not necessary.

We waited for over a month to

We waited for over a month to get this dry stodgy reply?? Where is the rumor, dirt, innuendo, and hard drama of what is actually going on there in QIAGEN GTN and GTB?? More careers and lives are being ruined there each and every working day! Those with talent and ambition have already fled and left this derelict. Our collective inquiring minds need to know what is actually going on there NOW and what the inside information and lowdown is with just a few months left before the GTB closure and ultimate disposition of the headcount left there scurrying about.

HPV is not going down, this

HPV is not going down, this is just "sour grapes" whining. Phelan et al (2011) reported that HPV cotesting leveled at ~13% in women >30 years old since 2006. Add here population growth, emerging markets in countries like China and various research trials related to vaccination, and you get a stable market for HPV tests. And stop blaming Digene scientists, they did what they could. However, with arrogant Q's leadership and strong local opposition to everything new all efforts were doomed.

Digene ! Not Qiagen ! Are you

Digene ! Not Qiagen ! Are you all autistic?

HPV is going down and for good reasons but ( for now at least )the rest of portfolio more then compensates lack of innovation from a bunch of guys feeling sorry for lack of free parties held on Digene money.

Digene skimmed the market, Qiagen took the seccond bite and now is gone.It happens every day if you are not keeping up with what others ( Roche in this case ) are doing.

You want perks? You want benefits? Then do something to earn these and stop bitching.

The Truth Hurts! All that

The Truth Hurts! All that has happened to the once proud QIAGEN can be attributed to the lazy, poor (incompetant?)supposed Leadership/Management outside US. From what we see now, it is clear that this simply will not end well for US QIAGEN and the comfortably numb GTB and GMT employees that are left hanging on to their memories and nothing else. Again very sad.

Speaking as someone attached

Speaking as someone attached to a competitor of Qiagen, all I can say is keep it up! Death spiral!!

QIAGEN? Thanks for the

QIAGEN? Thanks for the business that you guys are losing and we are picking up! Great job, keep doing what you are doing!

Touchy aren't we

Touchy aren't we

OK we get it you GTB GMT

OK we get it you GTB GMT crybabies. Life now in Corporate America is not as lavish and employee friendly as it onece was years and years ago. Please mentally adjust to this reality and be pleased that you are gainfully empployed and not a member of that "needy" 47% that Mitt Romney was so enamored to talk abnout all the time. Those poor qualified folks out there that for whatever reason have been layed off would exchange places with you in a heartbeat so please begin to appreciate what you currently have there at QIAGEN which as I understand is really not all that bad and quit your whinning! So what if your parties now have to occur after work hours and besides that is how it should be rather than have you slakers expect to ACTUALLY work MAYBE 5 hours of the 8 hours you are physically there. Move out and let those more deserving/appreciative take over!

Yes a very sad state.

Yes a very sad state. Those social interactions were good for building friendships and keeping moral up. But almost all forms of social interaction during work hours are forbidden now. Moral there is none, company loyalty dead. Those snacks after the required quarterly meetings made sitting thru the meeting tolerable. Now we sit and endure while the "leaders" in their 10K designer suits blablabla about nothing. Those who linger do so because they can't find a comparable paying job with out moving ( a very risky option in today's economy). We know that we will be very lucky to make to official retirement age more likely we will be cast out soon and working at McDonals

Very, very sad how the mighty

Very, very sad how the mighty have fallen so with this once proud company here in MD. Prior and just following the fateful acquisition, as a tenured employee we had it all with the multiple perks and activities with recognition and periodic giveaways, annual parties , cookouts and all the wonderful things "they" used to do for us. Now the last few years ALL of this has stopped as the powers in Germany have taken ALL this away from us in anticipation of shuttering us up here in GTB for good. I for one am very bitter about all this but at my age am finding it very hard to find a comparable job and salary at a local stable firm without having to relocate out of state...sigh. We dearly miss the old Digene!

Isn't that the truth. The

Isn't that the truth. The company can't even get enough together to mail out W2 on time. If that is not a RED flag on fire ye'all better get those resumes out and soon. Time is a wasting big time.

Yep this one is in a death

Yep this one is in a death spiral with future MD Facility closures upon us and a solid plan for business consolidation in Germany and Switzerland. The US employees left need to WAKE UP and smell the coffee before they are asked to exit stage left.. Just saying..

"elevator ride back to the

"elevator ride back to the top," or just 'dead dog bounce" ? Time will tell, 'cause I ain't saying

Elevator ride Back to the

Elevator ride Back to the Top! Future Uncertain? Thoughts?

Now that you mention it,

Now that you mention it, there does appear to be a brain drain and dropoff in the rank file talent which seems to be a younger less experienced group of limited new hires now mixed in with those mundane and quirky "older" folks that do little (nothing)to just get by which for the most part were those left behind following '11 layoffs/firings. Future uncertain.

No layoff in 2012 ok

No layoff in 2012 ok that is because enough people ran for the hills and were not replaced or were replaced with cheaper hires so that the rest of you dogged the axe.

No layoffs occurred in 2012

No layoffs occurred in 2012 which is a big improvement over all that we suffered in 2011. This company is set up for growth. Thank you PS. You Rock!

Just too too many haters and

Just too too many haters and negativity in this Biotech industry. Why can't we all just get along hapilly especially during the holiday season? Peace.

Ahh Ha now I know who

Ahh Ha now I know who got into the spiked eggnog

Happy Holidays to all my

Happy Holidays to all my wonderful colleagues at QIAGEN. Let's have a great New Year 2013!

Some bio-industries function

Some bio-industries function just fine and dandy without the constant need to swell and trim. Of course, geography and and other immutable factors can hinder options one would like to seek.

Good luck.

Really, sounds like BS and

Really, sounds like BS and trying to convince yourself everything is great. Will come as a shock when it happens to you as to past employees. No one is safe unless you are one of the suck up inner circle who sell their soul and disregard how they treat others to get ahead.

I am not sure what's the

I am not sure what's the reason ( officially several big projects happened in Q4 ) but the rumour is true : massive back-orders.

Yes business is booming and

Yes business is booming and may need to add a second shift to finally catch up! The perils of being a big global success!

I have heard there are

Hey Guy: ''At the end of the

Hey Guy: ''At the end of the day QIAGEN is a great family atmosphere'' Please ask the families short before X-mas last year (2011). Here in Germany where couples laid off and I've heard in US also, and what then???

Layoff are important in Corps

Layoff are important in Corps since they periodically thin out the freeloaders and the uninspired that hold us back to be the best we can be. Good riddance to these people that would otherwise take up space and drink our Green Mnt coffee. At the end of the day QIAGEN is a great family atmosphere and place to work here in GTB.
