NEWS REGARDING SIEMENS LAYOFFS OCT 2012 - 2013

Please post here any news about layoffs and leave the political scene on the other thread.

Standard Siemens package is

Standard Siemens package is 2weeks pay/years of service. Twenty Six week cap.
Better than nothing. You also take your remaining PTO with you.
If you leave on your own you get nothing, not even unemployment. So why would you leave unless you have another job in place.
I say, wait and hope you get a package soon.
Considering how well Siemens DX is doing I'd expect packages to be coming soon.

If you don't like working for

If you don't like working for Siemens, just leave. From everything posted here they are just a bad company and there appear to be many reasons for employees to want to leave. If you believe that Siemens owes you something extra, I fear that Siemens lack of understanding of DX has somehow infected your understanding of some kind of entitlement. Siemens does not owe you a job. Be responnsible for yourself and your own future.

Please do not take this post as indicating any support for Siemens or what they have done with their DX division. But two wrongs never make a right.

Totally agree. I would love a

Totally agree. I would love a package and get out of Siemens by years end. Dx is just a horrible division to work for.

I'd like to keep my job but

I'd like to keep my job but all these agendas are a bit stressful to say the least.

Why? Did you do something to

Why? Did you do something to earn or deserve it or are you just feeling a bit too entitled right now? Let's make that 48 % now.

May Siemens put a "layoff

May Siemens put a "layoff package" under my tree.

What you so correctly state

What you so correctly state about Siemens in Germany is part of their problem in the US. In Germany, Siemens and a few other giants are icons. People who work for them are respected by others. Germany has a culture of follow the leader which has both positive and negative aspects. America, in contrast, is almost the opposite. Americans revere very few companies and even fewer that are critical to the economy. Americans generally don't respect authority as much as they resent it. Americans don't feel a loyalty to their employers in the same way that Germans do. It is not a question of which culture is better, it is simply a statement of a difference. Both work for their countries. However, when managing workers in another country it is critical that you understand their culture and not expect them to adapt to yours. And this is something that Siemens has completely failed to understand and is a significant source of their problems in DX. They don't understand that their American workers didn't just forget eveything in their past and thank God that they now worked for a company like Siemens. In reality, many still think of themselves as DPC, Bayer, or Dade and this has been a major hindrance to integration. And if Siemens believes they can fix things by moving to China, they will run into the same kind of cultural differences there.

Siemens is a great and honored company in Germany and they deserve credit for that. But their management needs an attitude adjustment or complete makeover when it comes to having a major business sector operating in a very different culture. They need to accept reality and adjust.

They are a German company,

They are a German company, and Germany depends heavily on Siemens. Siemens is too big to fail in Germany, but not in the USA or anywhere else! So, never forget where the management's loyalty is at all times...

If you're American, you can always go work for GE!

Hey, don't quit just yet.

Hey, don't quit just yet. You'll just be making it easier for management. You'll be one less slot about which they will have to make a decision and you know how bad they are at deciding things. Stick around a while and make management squirm.

I worked for Siemens for 39

I worked for Siemens for 39 years and lost my job in September, 2012. Clearly, technical work is being shifted to Germany. The thing that disappoints me is the unwillingness of Siemens Uppermanagement to stick with things that have potential. They are unwilling to defend technology that is working but requires more time and more money to be successful.
My time with Siemens was disappointing in that we had to prove ourselves every three months. Some emerging technology takes time to mature and Siemens isn't a company that has confidence in their people despite all the bulllshit that "people are our most important asset".

good, bye,bye

good, bye,bye

Quite right. If they are

Quite right. If they are going to keep having agendas, I think it is time for me to leave.

Does anyone know when the

Does anyone know when the layoffs/plant shutdowns will come to pass?

Sooner the better. DX already went over the fiscal cliff two years ago.
Otherwise it'll be just one "Agenda" after another.
Agenda 2013, Agenda 14, etc.
Eventually Loescher will wake up, get rid of MR and HR.

Siemens is amazing company,

Siemens is amazing company, old technology, very incompetent management, 50% of scientists and engineers did not know what they are doing and still waiting for bonus.. Shame on you.. get out of there

Does anyone know when the

Does anyone know when the layoffs/plant shutdowns will come to pass?

The little guy always gets

The little guy always gets it. Study after study shows that taller people get ahead faster than shorter ones. There have only been 3 or 4 Presidential elections in which the shorter candidate won (the last time was probsbly Bush over Kerry). The only known solution to this bias appears to be elevator shoes, but it takes a bit of practice to learn how to walk in them.

---- Randy Newman of 'Short People' fame

Why is it always the little

Why is it always the little guys who get laid off???? We, obviously, don't make the big salaries.

Lets add OSRAM to the mix of

Lets add OSRAM to the mix of Siemens downsizings. Green energy has proven to be red accounting.

Personally, I don't hate

Personally, I don't hate anyone. Do I like his business tactics? No. I think he could get rid of some upper management and save some salaries there. Too many chiefs.

"...MR haters around here.

"...MR haters around here. He's personable, smart and hard working. "

He's also VERY narcissistic.

Corporate speak. They could

Corporate speak. They could have called it "right sizing" or the "right fit". Pick your poison!

"Competitiveness Program"!

"Competitiveness Program"! I'd like to know who came up with that name anyway. Why doesn't he man up and just call it what it is "layoffs"!!??

MR probably learned the term

MR probably learned the term 'loss leader' somewhere along the line and somehow he thinks that LA is the perfect part of Siemens to serve in that role.

"I'm surprised there are so

"I'm surprised there are so many MR haters around here. He's personable, smart and hard working. That's why he can achieve so much at such young age. Most of haters are probably over 10 years older than him and making less than 100k a year with a whining spouse and need children. Sooner or later you guys have to admit to yourselves that they're winners out there like MR, but you are the losers."

Hey Mikey, stop taking this personal!
You have gotten in way over your head and no matter what type
of siemens management BS you've tried has not worked.
Yes, you probably did not know what you got into but everytime I've
seen you you have seemed inept and totally ignorant of what the customer wants. You've got analyzers down more than they are up, and you've cut customer service back so much you are now losing customers all over the place.
Keep up the good work! And show us please how smart you are.

"What about LA? When will it

"What about LA? When will it finally close its doors?"

LA is still open. However, it'll be closed whenever you like to shut it down!!!

When Siemens comes out with

When Siemens comes out with its new system and it's actually successful, then you can start your winner and loser talk. Until then, I think your verdict on MR is a bit premature.

I'm surprised there are so

I'm surprised there are so many MR haters around here. He's personable, smart and hard working. That's why he can achieve so much at such young age. What about LA? When will it finally close its doors?

You have been

You have been warned.
Tarrytown, Flanders and Brookfield will be outsourced.
More layoffs at Brookfield this winter before the 'big' move.

thanks for the good job Mr Mike...stay in Germany.
fucking asshole

You are correct about M.R. I

You are correct about M.R. I can't believe that he is still employed. Some of the higher ups who have made these bad decisions should get the boot.

'Seems some layers of

'Seems some layers of management doesn't even know what MR is doing......"

Why in the world would this surprise anyone? It seems pretty obvious that even MR doesn't know what he is doing (or not doing) so why would you expect that anyone around him would know any better?

As the old Italian saying goes: The fish stinks from the head down.

some layers of

some layers of management?
Very little of management has a clue.
I think this is on purpose.
When you hire or promote people to region manager you hope they will be able to lead. Not this crew. I've been around some terrible region managers, but this group looks like a bad manager convention.

Seems some layers of

Seems some layers of management doesn't even know what MR is doing......

Well another week...

Well another week...

I think most of us could

I think most of us could whine about the future of Siemens, but at this time of the year I am truly blessed for what I have. Count your blessings!

Evidently Siemens DX has sold

Evidently Siemens DX has sold fewer than a cupful of Vista's in the European market. The Euro's do seem to be smarter than the rest of us here!

Definitely consider that that

Definitely consider that that you stated. Your favourite justification seemed to be on the net the simplest factor to take into accout of. I say to you, I certainly get irked while other people think about worries that they just don't know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and also defined out the entire thing with no need side effect , other folks could take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thanks dao tao seo

IMS Part 2? Just the

IMS Part 2? Just the thought should send shivers down the spine of anyone who knows anything about that billion dollar white elephant. Any bets on whether Siemens can spend more and get even less?

It looks like Siemens is becoming more of a soap opera-comedy every day, regardless of what their latest financial reports say. The money is just a snapshot in time, but comments about IMS Part 2 suggest a mentality and culture that is destined to make the Titanic a roaring success (after all, alot of people did survive!!!). If this is truly IMS 2, it is hard to see anyone surviving the disaster or imagine anyone coming to rescue anyone to escapes the actual sinking.

Can you just imagine Leonardo Dicaprio in the role of MR when the movie comes out?
