It's simple really. You just start up a new company, discover a fantastic new portfolio of drugs and go from there. Given all of the fantastic scientists who have been let go in recent years I can't believe none of them have got round to doing this.

Take it from me, I have seen for myself, first hand, how experienced and extremely capable scientists in AZ, some with an outstanding reputation of achievement in their field, have been 'let go' - it seems the attitude of Pangalos and his acolytes is 'leave if you want to, we can source your expertise elsewhere.... ' I am not saying they are wrong, I am just reporting what I have witnessed for myself - that people employed by AZ and who have significant expertise and experience are not valued in AZ, my interpretation of this is Pangalos et al believe the expertise can be bought elsewhere. Which may be true.

Well it was asked at the announcement of the virtual neuroscience IMED, is this not the path for the future? Answer was NO!. If CVGI goes this way, then where would the trust of AZ employees go. We have been told not to speculate, but I agree AZ is doomed as a in-house research environment. Any remaining talent will see the writing on the wall and walk.

I totally agree. Furthermore, Pangalos will do the same to CVGI as he has done to Neuroscience. That said, who can blame him, I worked in AZ for 17 years and despite continued investment in Molndal throughout that time, nothing came out of in-house activities. Absolutely nothing. The evidence is irrefutable - it does not work. Billions of dollars wasted, GIven it does not work, it has to close and something else tried. If taking all iMEDs down the virtual route ultimately works, then Pangalos will get the fame and recognition he craves, if it does not work, then at least he will be recognised as having had the balls to try. One thing I learnt in the short time I was in Innovative Medicines, is that Pangalos and his acolytes place no value on scientific expertise or experience. I am just glad I am no longer there. Sadly, i think that may be true. He, and his like, have been in positions of influence for so long that their all too obvious technical, scientific, managerial and political deficiency has had time to infiltrate every aspect of the industry leaving it the complete mess it has now become. And even if this is just the start, even if every MacKay clone is flushed from ever pharma over the next 2 years, how do we hope to survive and grow again given that he and the others have built and dedicated their careers to eliminating much of the true scientific experience and talent that we would have required to give us a fighting chance. Sorry, but i give up. Congratulations to all the clowns. You've won.
