the Exodus in Tucson continues. People leaving left and right resulting in expertise being lost and big programs being delayed.
So when is the new staining platform coming out? 2014 was supposed to be the year.
Didn't you guys hire that clown from Solulink?
He is going around trying to get everyone to believe that hydrazones are stable linkages for conjugation.
blah blah blah aryl schiff base blah blah blah
What do YOU think the chemists at Roche think when they see you buy into garbage like that.
They will just dismiss you for fools, that's what they'll do.
Do you people really think upper management in these companies doesn't know what they're doing?
What if you are there just to make it LOOK like there is some kind of an effort going on.
Sounds like those that want to do something different with their lives, that have the ability, are voting with their feet.
Maybe you guys are just pissed cause you can't.
Considering that they're only willing to use 40+ year old technology as the back end to their software solutions (thanks a lot JP), they don't even stand a chance at making it past the door with any customer's IT groups. They're literally cutting themselves off at the knees - that's just another reason the good engineers are leaving in droves.
They have lost another key engineer in MV to the competition and I hear morale is even lower than it used to be! Only people left are the ones who are willing to laugh at SB's bad jokes in order to get good performance reviews.
SB's only "skill" is swimming with the whales and his claims to success are nothing but fish stories...what a jack-a-roo.
SB in Mountain View has lost another 2 direct reports in the last couple of months. He will soon be alone on his island. When will MA understand SB is the biggest problem in Mountain View, not the solution?
What is the customer impact?
VMSI is a sad shell of what it should be. The products all have such amazing potential, but the complete and utter lack of competence by leadership and other decision makers is appalling. Many people within VMSI still have great, innovative ideas to keep things moving forward - but it's all squashed. People are leaving in droves because they can see the writing on the wall.
This is a great site......
The real Ventana brand is a name only now. Question is how soon before buyers figure out.
VMS is in serious trouble.
This could free up tables at the local Starbucks.
This is the best news Tucson has had in decades!
Bye bye loser idiots.
google, ASCO 2013 highlights immunotherapy and your question will be answered.
Big black eye for DW, who went rogue and took an expensive license on VMS' dime for the latest biomarker de jour (he wanted to play with all the pharmas, not just Genetech). Breaking news from ASCO is that there is no need for the biomarker (drug seems to work in marker negative patients as well) oops.
Sounds like you came from the DP side of the business then.
Think of it as more experience for your next job.
"DP" is Double Penetration; "SP" is single.
Responding?...nobody is home nowadays.
With a cryptic strategy from the VLT, comes a crypt-like environment on campus. Clearly Roche's low-hanging diagnostic fruit, is now rotting on the vine.
I wonder how people are responding to NACO HR nowadays? I bet they are a barrel of laughs! Or maybe a barrel of monkeys?
They are running for any door that opens, just to get as far away from that oozing sore as quickly as possible.
Is VMS staff going to competition?
The Austrian, yes.
NW in scientific affairs?
Dr. NW resigend last week, his desire to get away from VMS so high he did so without another job at Roche. He'll land well, but reflecive of how the situation continues to deteriorate
prayin' for rain
Can't taint the MA "brand" with a lowly President title, but then again its about to be changed to "Former" CEO (President) anyway. Taking bets here, before the first monsoon rain or before San Antonio Breast Conference?
Ventana does not have a CEO, only a President of the tissue diagnostics business area (like all the other VLT members they fluff up their titles on LinkedIn, to seem bigger than they are).
What is so great anyway, please expand upon your uplifting statements?
"DP" is Digital Pathology, was is "SP" (Simple, Special?)
VMS does not offer DP action. SP only.
Ventana is a great company with a brilliant CEO. Pure genius.
At this point, with their drugs drivng all the value, Roche might even count Boehringer Mannheim as the biggest as diagnostics will shortly be a loss leader, at best.
Don't forget Affymetrix in the list of Roche expensive diagnostic mistakes.
In any other company, stockholders would want to know what the return was on the investment but at Roche, "boodogglers" are never called to task (Nimblegen, 454, Athena trial, MTM, BI ) how many hundreds of millions spent, with no return in site.
You would think there would be some consequences for the BI decision. How long before this boondoggle is ditched?
Someone's trying to raise the IQ bar for posting here (chill-out dude).
Perhaps Genmark can start hiring from the pool of unfortunates that lost their job at NACO, due to the VLT's failure to execute to plan. Of course none of them will lose their job (have DP sales justified the Bioimagene acquisition?...who championed that expensive disaster by the way? Why doesn't someone kill some of the projects that are so far overdue and overbudget, instead of making cuts to the very people who generate revenue). We gave up a lot relocating to the desert because we were sold on the idea that we would be able to make a difference to patients afflicted with cancer, now we are treated with nothing but indifference.
Stay off the board, if all you have are stupid questions.
Ventana is part of Roche Diagnostics
Genmark (a.k.a., Motorola, Clinical Microsensors)
The only link is that several ex-Ventana people (most of whom cashed out in the Roche Acquisition) now work there.
Ventana and Genmark, are they the same?
Think of all the money they would save by getting rid of the ASA lifecycle leader, who heads up marketing who got a deleted job at Ventana only because of her political connections in Basel. HM also resurrected another deleted job on DO'Ds instructions for her husband so she would be willing to relocate to Tucson. VMS could save even more by getting rid of all the expat positions forced on them by Basel.
With all the money saved they can hire people with actual marketing and product development experience and start launching new products again.
With no new products scheduled for years to come why bother with BD. With no marketing being done anyway, might as well centralize it with one of the other business areas (i.e. professional)
A lot of those people have recently relocated to Tucson, have families, etc. now they have to sell house and move.
For those that choose to relo to Indy should be interesting as Indy always regards us as the "chosen ones." Wonder how the fit will be?
For those that stay in Tucson, competition will be fierce finding a job. Can't imagine what kind of additional impact this will all have on our business.
Ventana Business Development and Marketing are a joke. Heard they are the next to be axed.
They've been offered relos, but who will move to Indy? We shall see...
Who in marketing?
30 plus let go this week in NACO, just prior to the holiday weekend, well played and a classy act by the bumbling due DW and MA
Interesting discussion string, hearing from both sides of the fence, corporate loyalists and Ventana traditionalists. Clearly a cadre of people, some long timers and some newbies, don't like the changes and are moving on. Roche has a pretty deep talent pool to pull replacements from, but Ventana's business is a different situation which the corporate types aren't used to (this isn't the clinical chemistry or EIA market segments, where it was a simple matter of steamrolling over everybody else). The current state of the business will dictate whether or not Basel is willing to open its pocketbook to help Ventana address its problems, or all of diagnostics for that matter. As correctly pointed out the pharma business is what is driving the stock price, so that is where the investment bias will be to.
Isn't the Roche stock price reflective of the pharma side's maturing pipeline, rather than diagnostics? Let's keep it in perspective as well, since the price is returning to the level of old not new highs
Clearly one's cleverness needs to be more "simple," in order for people like you to appreciate. Instead you liberals make everything a race/sex issue (you brought up the issue of race I should point out, I only mentioned nationality and never brought up colour). My fashion reference only points to specific people, in the context of what was said. Those of us trying to build successful careers within successful companies are blind to the labels you point to. These people should be fired due to their incompetance. Who cares about their skin tone, nationality or gender other than you?
Get educated, then we'll welcome you back to the rumour mill
