Any experience with Danaher?

I'm looking to get a job with Beckman Coulter/Danaher. Any thoughts in terms of what's currently happening right now with them?

If you are competant enough

If you are competant enough to find a job else where then do so. If you have to eat and can not do any better, then take the job but understand that every one else is there for the same reason.

I'm looking to leave Beckman

I'm looking to leave Beckman asap!
This was a decent company before Danaher came along and ran it into the ground! I hear from customers that they did the same to Radiometer.
These clowns couldn't organize a 1 man parade without screwing it up!
Run away! Run away!

I spent several years in

I spent several years in upper management at a Danaher company and I can guarantee that the only thing most of my fellow managers were concerned with was making their bonus. If that meant stepping on a few underlings oh well! That's just business.
Sales people were treated as disposable pawns and service people were "just useless" DBS is used to justify employee abuse.
The incompetents rise to the top while everyone else pays the price.
I would never ever consider working for another Danaher company!

impossible- there is no

impossible- there is no evidence of nerve tissue or neural activity in hr associates

Flagged, huh? My comment must

Flagged, huh? My comment must have struck a nerve...sorry DHR/Bec HR-it wasn't my intention to stress you out and cause you to work. Just trying to help out someone doing due diligence in their job search with honest experience.

-the judging criteria are

-the judging criteria are never divulged to you-
your just a resource
the judging criteria is based on your value
high quality work good health lack of family recent birthdate are assets
pay insurance costs vacation are liabilities
over time liabilities increase and some assets will decrease
value = assets- liabilities
when liabilities>assets you find out during your review the judging criteria for you has changed
someone that does a mediocre job and gets paid at the bottom of the range will keep their job longer than someone that does an excellent job and gets paid in the top half of the range

Oh please keep up your job

Oh please keep up your job search! Danaher is toxic. Management arbitrarily "force ranks" team members effectively pitting them against one another. If you are not among the top ranks-and the judging criteria are never divulged to you--guess what? You are either going to be fired (or threatened with firing) or you throw your team members under the bus to save your own ass. Bottom line, if you have no conscience, no scruples, and love to screw over your friends, team, customers, or just anyone in general, Beckman/ Danaher is for you.

Oh, another tiresome thread

You know, ultimately it comes down to the immediate people you are working for. If your boss is an arrogant sociopath like mine was then the place will be miserable. If you can handle day to day corporate bs and sociopaths then go for it.

Danaher "flattened" the

Danaher "flattened" the organization after the acquisition so that only 5 career levels are possible, but they left in place the VPs who caused Beckman's misfortune.

Why would anything be different under Danaher's management if the same incompetent Beckman VPs who instigated the current debacle remain?

The only people remaining at

The only people remaining at Danaher/Beckman after the aquisition are the ones who have no confidence in their abilities and the ones who are near retirement. The real "talent" has either moved on or they are at least looking and will be gone when the economy improves.

You don't want to work for

You don't want to work for Danaher, trust me. They took away Beckman's pension, severence package, retiree medical coverage... and that was just the first year after the aquisition.

Danaher sucks.

Danaher sucks.

Feel like a number? Welcome

Feel like a number?

Welcome to DHR!

All kidding aside if you hire in below middle management you will be looking for a different job sooner than later.

Now if you were asking about one of their products it is common knowledge most of them are of very poor quality and best avoided.

stay away: all people leave

stay away: all people leave or fired

Worked there are reviced some

Worked there are reviced some promotion, just left. Why? They use your energy: they give you some $ but you don't learn there at all.
Brend is poor. For me was the only my wrong choice in 25 year working year. Suggestion: if you don't have a job you can conisedr to go there but the day after look for a real job.
Last: non any humanity and CSR: money for money. All emplyee there would like to exit ......

As the country is Heading Towards a Collapse the top management level in DHR are rushing to sale more and more stock than never before Soon the customers, the Stock holders, even the employees that have defended this brand will be crying. We will be telling them.
We told you. get out of this. BCI was an instrument to fool the foolish.
It will be too late to wake up tomorrow and see how this individuals use a man made crisis to clean their buts, with their bags full of money.

Wow. what a complete

Wow. what a complete misreading of the first amendment. It only pertains to federal government action. You do not have protected speech rights from a private company!

Danaher is hands down the

Danaher is hands down the worst job I ever took. I worked for Gilbarco (Danaher owned) as an Engineer for about 2 years, and I cannot even begin to tell you what a disaster the place is. Technology is stuck in the 1990's, as*hole managers will never give you a good review, even though you put in 70 hrs a week. Management pits one person against another, with constant psycological harassment (per DBS). It got to the point where I started doubting my own abilities. I had 4 different managers that came and went (fired). They will threaten you with layoffs, they will time your bathroom visits, they will make your life a living hell. Safety violations were rampant. If anyone is considering working for this company or one that is owned by them, don't!!

"The employee is just another

"The employee is just another expense in the eyes of Danaher."

No, the employee is just another expense in the eyes of all public companies. If a company butters its bread by focusing on the low price point of the market this is especially true.

Look what they have done to

Look what they have done to Radiometer. This was once a high quality Danish company with 40 years of being the best in Blood Gas.
Now the junk they are putting out has led them to the bottom!
I feel sorry for the Danes!

Having spent several years in

Having spent several years in upper management at a Danaher Life Sciences company I can tell you that DBS is a perfect system for creating a toxic environment! Although the pay scale is competitive the mental abuse you will suffer is not worth it! The only people that tend to stick around are the ones with the least amount of talent.
Probably one of top 10 worst companies to work for!
If you are desperate then by all means go for it. Otherwise I would run as fast as i could in the oposite direction!
The employee is just another expense in the eyes of Danaher.

If it's the best you can do

If it's the best you can do go for it.

Danaher is a great company

Danaher is a great company with plenty of opportunity, especially for young, ambitous, inexperienced employees.I agree just go for it.

Understand none of these

Understand none of these comments are from current DHR employees. DHR has strict rules about posting anything even remotely related to DHR. If you get caught you will be 'terminated with cause'.

It is sad that Danaher feels the need to take an action like this. If they really valued their "Associates" then a rule like this would never be necessary. If current employees are dumb enough to post from inside the corporate network then they deserve what ever they get. What they post from outside is protected speach under the first amendment.

If you are in R&D, it is not

If you are in R&D, it is not a good place. Just ask how much of the revenue Danaher is investing in R&D. It is not enough to compete and be successful.

If you have a MBA degree or young, it is a great place to work (and learn from mistakes).

Someone mentioned that things will get better after "getting rid of the whiners." Many of the "whiners" are now gone, but its business units seem to be sinking further. However, Danaher has cash and it will last at least a few more years.

So what you read here is from X-DHR. Most of which were let go because they were simply unneeded as the economy has shrunk or the business model changed. The ones who left on their own to pursue a better or different job aren't killing time posting here. Mostly venting, bitching going on here.

Right now though it's all about bird in the hand.

"As soon as they get rid of

"As soon as they get rid of the whiners, and align the new hires with the Danaher vision, mission, it will be a great place to work. Expect negative comments from others since they cannot adapt to the new culture and need to justify their existence."

WOW! Are you a self-loathing ex BEC employee or what!

Sounds more like an HR Troll to me.

Activity of the HR spin

Activity of the HR spin machine aside, Glassdoor has reviews from associates of both newly acquired and completely assimilated DHR companies. There's a lot of different points of view but the negatives and positives are pretty consistent. It's a matter of how relevant they are to your individual situation.

Bent over with hands firmly grasping ankles works best with Danaher!

Depends how old you are? If

Depends how old you are? If you are young, it's a great school. Add lines to your resume, then get out.

It's toxic as a workplace

You need to judge for

You need to judge for yourself .There are to many people with axes to grind for and against Danaher. If you dont have a job go for it.Just remember Danaher is all about the bottom line.

It's a nightmare. Come and

It's a nightmare. Come and join us!

What position?

Great time to get in. DHR

Great time to get in. DHR has all the cash they need to get Beckman back on track.
