Anyone hear if the ADD closure of Santa Clara was approved?

They'll just layoff more people this week to cover the added expenses.

The great management team at Abbott has done it again!!! Their moving their ADD Distribution Operation from Dallas to Chicago, what a wise move. Now they can pay more TAXES. This will all be passed along to the consumer, as if medical cost were not high enough.

Now that the State Of Illinois has passed a law to increase (the states) personal income tax from 3% up to 5%, and corporate from 4.8% up to 7%, how do you think all companies doing business in the State of Illinois will react? Companies like Abbott, that have to respond to shareholders, will make more cuts and shifting work overseas in order to protect that "bottom line".

My wife is a rep for innovex (contract with abbott) and the rumor was 01/11 was the day, but no phone calls as of yet. They were told at the last couple of meetings that if Citriad(?) didn't get approved, that there could be possible cuts. Well, it didn't, and the rumor is that most likely the contract reps/employees would be the first to go. She has been there almost 3 years and was told that they would be rolled over to permanent Abbott employees, but that was supposed to be 2 years ago, and here we are biting our nails wondering the hell is gonna happen

Heard that there will be significant layoffs in PPD & ADD on 1/19.

Maybe sold after 50% reduction in LC ADD HC. KC said in Sept he'd comeback in 30-60 days and give us the bad news plan. Now lackey Site Director LM gets stuck telling manager's, with tears in his eyes, that layoffs will happen when they happen and no information will be forth coming. Nice transparency they always like to brag about. Get ready Feb 9th LC; of course, after all self-assessments are approved.

The agreement covers the co-development of an analyzer system solution, using STRATEC technology and provides further details about the manufacturing and supply by STRATEC. Development of the system has already begun as part of a feasibility study.

Irving / Dallas Site......... Contracts get re-newed Contract Positions. More Contracts ADDED to support a schedule that has gone up. Management scrambling to get Parts to Singapore to Build Instruments. Suppliers cannot keep up with the demand of running two sites simultaneously.

Words out that ADD will be SOLD or Spun-off in the next 18 months. All new instrument line material will be moved to Chicago and Singapore. Old Instrument lines will move into the smaller building and larger building will be sold. Thanks NAFTA the CEO's of companies could not have do all this without the help of our Government passing this Bill, opening up FREE Trade. Was it really worth it????

Already happened. Dallas site eliminated 90 positions. More to come in June.

I heard that nearly all Contractors were being eliminated by ADD by end of this year.

CEO said things really bad at all employee meeting and needed to contain costs (CEO-speak for layoffs and shutdowns). Wouldn't be surprised if all Divisions hit in early Januaury to get off the books and not have to give merits or profit sharing.

This round of layoffs are done. Total of 50 Abbott Employees.
Next round at Dallas Site will be around the same time next year.
Pending all goes well with the transfer of manufacturing to Singapore and FDA approval.

I was 'liberated' 4 years ago from a specialist position. I was woken with an urgetn voicemail page. when I called in to pick up I was told my mailbox was shut down. I tried my e-mail and was denied access.

An hour later I got the 15 second phone call "We are re-organizing, we done't need you any more, any questions?????"
