Not sure am following you comment on the ADD headquarter move to Germany. All division headquarters are near the company headquarters in Lake County so dont see why ADD would move overseas. Are you speculating on this or have definitive evidence of this?

I must respectfully disagree with you on this one. I watched the poeple pack up their things and saw a list of names. Most of the people were steller performers who were leaders and gave it their best. I have kept track of several and they have been hired at other Pharma/Medical Device companies and they are doing great. I think that most of the low performers are the ones that are left because they didn't make very much money. So the company kept them on. At least it holds true with the people around me. These people are not bright and are just tripping over each other now. I also know that things are getting done. It is too bad.

Rumor overheard at DVP meeting : ADD Divisional staff will be let go prior to factory workers - Once headcount is at a desired level the division will be sold off - factory workers will move to new company , and Abbott won't want any of the divisional "yes men" that currently exit - most of them are excess to requirements and won't be offered another Abbott contract.

Just to clarify NOT ALL of the people layed off were HIGH QUALITY...many yes, but there were plenty who were long over due for termination. Should not have to use lay offs at a company to remove poor performers, but that is used time and time again.

This rumor mill used to be pretty accurate now it is just boring diatribe. The sadest part of all is that Abbott ADD employess are just sitting ducks. Just waiting for it to be my day. It is too bad because Abbott used to be a great company who looked after their employees and people would do anything to get a position here. The high quality people have either left the company or were laid off because they were making too much money. Everyone goes to work anxious and worries. That is not productive. Someone at this company needs to wake and see that this is not a healthy work environment. Quit with the layoffs. It is just poor management on Miles White's part. He doesn't know how to properly manage headcount. It makes you wonder if he is really fit to run this company. Consumers and people watching the stock are starting to see this.

This is True!! Abbott makes it's money off the reagents not the instruments. Once all manufacting of instruments have been third partied out. Abbott will keep selling the reagents and raking in the money. Don't anyone worry that a third world country is making these instruments. Even though the FDA does not scrutinize the foreign manufactures as they do our USA companies. Just think about that. US companies are raked over the coals as the saying goes. While the foreign companies get a little slap on the hand.

There will be more layoffs, but who knows when. The Singapore Project of move the Dallas site overseas and to Chicago is not going well. Management is still pushing forward, everyone must get their bonuses no matter what. As long as it looks good on paper everyone is happy.

ADD Hematology is still making a decision on whether to go with Flextronics or not. My feeling is that they will. A few of the big wigs just had a meeting here at work and there's a buzz that layoffs are about to happen.

FDA should be in Singapore at the end of the month for a Flextronics audit. Just wondering how that will go. I'm sure Abbott and Flextronics will put on a great Dog And Pony Show. But will the FDA buy it. Only time will tell.
