I heard the same rumor – another round in early March. Don’t believe this will happen so close to the last round of layoff in January.

People, Doesn't anyone remember?... President's Club trips are forthcoming! If they don't cut the budget from somewhere then all those lavish trips could be in harm's way. Also those mega bonus schedules have to be paid. Worker bees? Expendable! That mentality is why the stock price sits essentially where it was FIVE years ago ($55.xx v $54.87! Going nowhere fast, except on some fine trips in the early spring, especially if you are senior management. Good luck to the little folks. Some will be handcuffed to ABT trying to make retirement conditions and criteria. Hope you make it. If you can move forward now, it is a good time to put all of it behind you. There are real companies out there where their CEO doesn't knock down $20.96 Million/ per year/average (for the past six years, rather the company maintains within reality and away from greed. I wanted a severance package but did not get one. I feel bad for those that got the axe, while some of us drag along waiting for time to go by. I put my name in the hat, maybe next time.

"The medical device and drugmaker said it will eliminate 700 jobs in the United States and Puerto Rico, according to the Chicago Tribune. "Fewer than 200" of those cuts will come from the Chicago area."
ADD Lake County also had a number of layoffs, approximately 300 according to one recently laid-off employee.
The people that are only affected is temecula ,murieta and cebo the hade a meeting at 9:00 today and theirs another at one o'clock giving people color paper to see if their safe or lay off! And they may have another lay off at med year. So people that didn't get layoff today could get it in couple of months!

Don't forget that this still could be part of the "Three Year Plan" that was started before the companies "split up". All previous layoffs have coincided to occur before a new pay period starts for saleried employees.

Very quite the past couple of weeks. With performance reviews due the 20th the next round, just like last year, will not happen until later this month or early in February.
I am hearing a rumor regarding a possible 01/19/12 layoff. This would be before the scheduled "conference call" on 01/25/12 to report the 4th quarter earnings of 2011.

If I didn't read the company name, I would think this thread is about Pfizer. Sad state of affairs. It must be the "Stupidity Flu" going around the big Pharma world. No cure in sight either.

Retirement Healthcare? Have you figured out what "retirement healthcare" will be if you utilize the Abbott Retirement Healthcare Plan? Ah, welcome to the real world! It isn't cheap, and in fact you can likely source it cheaper in other places, especially if you have a spouse that is still working, etc. It isn't droplets from Abbott Heaven! If you are holding on for that little benefit alone you may be very disappointed, and you may want to get accurate numbers before chancing a loss of retirement benefits (or substantual change) should another spin off or sell off occur. Bottom line.... If you have an opportunity...move on forward from Abbottabad. At this point, if elgible for retirement- scoot!
