I just laugh so hard. IVGN

I just laugh so hard. IVGN bought LTI 10 years ago then went about to destroy any vestige of the LTI name, quality and reputation. Now IVGN has reinvented itself as of all things LTI and moving operations back to Frederick Maryland. Have we come full circle.... no the tight workforce that once made up the real LTI was dispersed all over, each with a bitter taste in their mouth at the cras way that IVGN took over and tossed the quality oriented workforce aside for a " get it done quick and cheap forget quality" crew of 20 somethings. Now they are trying to impress us with the LTI name... nja same old "Quality does not matter" IVGN plan.

When is that cyborg pile of

When is that cyborg pile of ---- running marketing (AC) going to get the boot?

Rumor is that Starlight has

Rumor is that Starlight has been sh!tcanned.

What? GL has been telling us investors that there would be Starlight machines in the hands of alpha testers next quarter! But maybe not until all those 100 SOLIDs he talked about are installed at the Ignite Institute, creating the largest sequencing facility in North America. But then what to make of the $300+ million thrown at Ion Torrent? Given the Visagen issues, Ion Torrent shouldn't be counting on any additional "milestone" payments. What you get for business strategy when you've got a bunch of BS artists going around lying to each other internally.

$25M from what, Visigen

"Life just bought Ion

"Life just bought Ion Torrent."

Life will suck everything they can out of this company and force it
to adapt its strategy of maximizing profits on the instrument.
Think about it:
If the equipment replaces the SOLiD and the high throughput instruments, like the 3730, their sequencing instruments product line will resume to this equipment and the low / medium throughput (1, 8 and 24 caps).
If 75% of Life Technologies revenue comes from the sale of reagents and this instrument (ION torrent's) needs virtually no reagents, how will they survive?

Again, you're behind the times. BS did leave; she's very good but would never claim to be essentially running HID. More importantly PC has moved no from HID to other things in Life. Good for him. However HID remain in good hands with good talent running good business.

Take it somewhere else low life, like back to your gutter. Your comments are completely cheap and even if we believed the comment about talking at job at Carlsbad we don't want you. Have some respect for the family and what they are going through.

"Scotland will be

"Scotland will be downsized."

What does this idiotic statement mean? Are some of the islands to declare independence? Are the English or Irish planning to invade and diminish Scotland's realm? Or will the earth simply open up and swallow swathes of the country?

Really, you should give a little more consideration to the drivel that you post here.

Hey! With initials like BP

Hey! With initials like BP do you think we could somehow slam him for the gulf oil spill? It would be closer to reality than some of these posts.

Tried out the links. Good

Tried out the links. Good luck with the social networking and the matress. Looks like you're going all the way.

I can name a couple. He was

I can name a couple. He was in Baxter Dade in Miami before the site was closed. He was also at the Botox place in California. He has been around-one of the directors showed me his resume. By the way, the dishwasher was eventually fired. He didn't wash dishes, he sat around and read newspapers while the dishes piled up. I have a position at BP's level in another company and while he certainly had a debacle to try to put together in a cohesive way, I was not overly impressed with him. May have known manufacturing but not really a visionary or analytical thinker. There was another guy there, DC, who was capable of running the show but I think he may be looking at retirement soon.

I'll bet BP and his wife get into tape-LOL

Hasn't LIFE outsourced

Hasn't LIFE outsourced dishwashing to India?

For Heaven's sake even BP has

For Heaven's sake even BP has a sense of humor. I think it is the message he is giving that is important. People know how to do their job, managers don't need to make every decision and managers do need to delegate. And name BP's last 13 positions.

BP is "empowering the

BP is "empowering the dishwasher". His comment, not mine.
He's been using this same script in his 13 positions.

Finally you're beginning to

Finally you're beginning to use your gray matter. Qiagen, Illumina and Sigma mostly compete in certain market segments rather than across the board with Life Technologies. As such, LT and Sigma, LT and Illumina, LT and Qiagen are typically the top two companies in the segments where they compete and therefore typically growing faster than market.

Of course I'm using the mean or median across 50,000 SKUs. The logic still holds that LT is growing because of volume not because of price

Where are your facts? Speak

Where are your facts? Speak with data not speculation or opinion.

On revenue outgrowing market, for Q1 2010, LIFE beat Sigma year on year, underperformed Illumina, Qiagen, and Thermo. I would consider those companies to be a pretty good definition of the "market". So from public data, I would conclude that LIFE revenue is not outgrowing the market.

On price increases, I'm sure with 50,000+ SKUs, you can claim that your mean or median price increase is single digits. There are thousands of products with no price increases (and minimal sales) for 2010. There have also been products (without improvement or size/unit changes) with triple digit price increases in the last year.

Where are your facts? Speak

Where are your facts? Speak with data not speculation or opinion. Business as a whole growing upper single digits/low double digits. Price increases don't even break a single percentage point. All public domain.

...Revenues outgrowing

...Revenues outgrowing market, improved profitability...

Unfortunately, your revenue growth isn't matching your price increases, indicating decreasing sales in many product categories.

It's called continuous

It's called continuous improvement. Manufacturing will always change and before you let your cynicism say it, we know the change needs to be a positive one. If you hadn't noticed the company has changed. Revenues outgrowing market, improved profitability, reinvestment into the business and operations. Keep watching and it will change some more. Every day, every week.
