coming B4 year end.
Waiting for the age discrimination lawsuit re the last round of layoffs.
Free booze is necessary. Nobody could sell an Ion Torrent with a straight face if they were sober.
A lot of "bump'in and grind'in" happening at the meeting in Orlando. Sex on wheels! Meeting is a waste of time but the bar antics and managerial behavior made it worth the flight!
I love my job - sales at LIFE is super cool!
It's the only way inside sales group can move up, through questionable activities... Cheap labor comes at another cost, young, too young employees not handling the free booze and really old managers... Who needs sexual tourism when you can just go to a Lifetech meeting.
There were some questionable activities going on at the sales meeting. I thought HR was suppossed to handle the "situations" not be a part of them.....Liquor + Sales Meetings = questionable activities.
NO question about that PL is class. BB my god, I can't believe it, is he related to GL ? Not by his partner I hope, the bimbo I saw at the prez club looked like it was inert and inflated.
I'd take PL over BB any day
Years ago GL said that it's the head of HR that should be the person ready to take over as CEO in case of a private jet mishap.
obviously double BB woke up one day and said he wanted to be a CEO - since he only has sales experience Uncle greg put him into a line job to run a business...it's part of the succession planning Life takes to seriously...
because the people that make the decisions know nothing about the science. They will always buy the prettiest powerpoint.
sales meeting, they are presenting on how they were stupid to pay 700 million for a me-too product vs miseq
Why do you say naive? Where are they presenting?
I'm getting seriously ready for the completely fake presentation on PGM... How could they have been so naive !
"you are all dysfunctional"
You never had a breakfast meeting with him obviously.
you are all dysfunctional!!!
This man eats human flesh for breakfast.
He will do just fine. He got someone who knew what thay were doing to write his talk, then fired that person so there was never any path back.Next time, well see above
Can't wait to see that sorry BB of a loser stand up and talk next this week in Orlando. Here is one thing you should see in all of our eyes as you stand up and speak about our results: YOUR SHAME !
...That is too funny! Bernd Brust running a Molecular Medicine business is absurd. Remind me why anyone would feel him qualified to run such an enterprise? It's a typical LIFE strategy, all style - no substance...
STYLE? are you kidding? He only thinks he has style. This guy is so full of himself. He thinks he is so sexy and that all the women want him (not!). BB, you're a glorified car salesman, nothing more. And if it weren't for GTL you'd probably be selling cars. Total ass
"No, some other initials. And JR seems to be the real deal so I won't begrudge him his success though the overpayment for IT is vast."
From what I have been told, from multiple sources, JR is quite the "character".
"BB, the new president of Molecular Medicine?"
you have to be kidding me !
That is too funny! Bernd Brust running a Molecular Medicine business is absurd. Remind me why anyone would feel him qualified to run such an enterprise? It's a typical LIFE strategy, all style - no substance.
That the dandy with the Bow tie?
BB, the new president of Molecular Medicine?
>>>Are you referring to MS or JR?<<<
No, some other initials. And JR seems to be the real deal so I won't begrudge him his success though the overpayment for IT is vast.
Still not enough of substance coming out if LIFE to know what IT will do. New sample prep process is pretty confusing. If you still need emulsion PCR after the 2 hours then it's still a long sample prep process. Also, how good is the actual data? ILMN have just made things interesting with their new machine - I wonder how the whole process will compare with IT?
""Lots of layoffs in R&D, who needs R&D when you can replace it with a 700M hype machine and a fake Doctor of molecular diagnostic."
So, does anyone think GL will make his money back on this one?
I'll bet Illumina didn't spend nearly that much to develop their anser to the PGM. Does anyone want to coment on the recent anouncements at JPM Conf?
"Well they hired one of the sleaziest snake oil salesmen in the genomics industry as "president and coo." That should tell you pretty much everything you need to know."
Are you referring to MS or JR?
2 hours from DNA to Library does not mean beads. You still need the EZ bead or a manual process. Library just means fragmented DNA with adaptors ligated. A process under 2 hours is nothing new:
"LIFE execs and directors are idiots"
Can't be, have you seen their paychecks?
LIFE execs and directors are idiots
Life posted a position for an executive speech writer...
too funny - can the executives not write their own speeches from their 19 words of neanderthal dialect (thought-leadership, synergies, socialize, improve the human condition, pricing excellence, and so on...)
So what's the deal with the new sample prep they announced today. "2 hours from DNA to library" Does this mean the EZ bead product isn't needed any more, or is there something that they are not telling us?
At least until the executive suite cashes in all their earnouts. We'll see if the facade starts to crumble after Carlsbad gets their hands on it.
so it will be a rampant success then.
Well they hired one of the sleaziest snake oil salesmen in the genomics industry as "president and coo." That should tell you pretty much everything you need to know.
Just get yourself data from a 454 run. Throw away 90% of the reads. Then, for the remaining reads, throw away the first (best) 80% of the sequence. There you go. You have yourself some IT data.
if u believe in propaganda, it works great!
only in their own powerpoints.
Anyone got any practical experience of the ion torrent machine, leaving aside the tedious stream of self promotion?
Looks like some managers will need to work on sales other than large sequencing order. It also took 2 years for M 'kool aid girl' C to figure out we didn't want to fight against our own reps for real time pcr consumables... Nobel prize winning decision I tell ya... If you could only listen to your reps once and for all... Now if you could only get that wasteland group of gene ex App 'scientits' off our arses, we could spend less time explaining 20 useless staff what to do with their time or what a Taqman assay is.
Finally, ditch that Attune POS (how many crapboxes have we sold ?) and go back to the drawing board with Open Array (or stop lying about it) and you got yourself a decent set up.
Get out you obviously have brains.
Just bringing the revolution in personal genomics to the masses. The masses with genome sizes of 2-3 million bases. There were a few mutations as LIFE's 1000 genomes effort worked its way through 523 PowerPoint decks, it ended up being a 1000 machines/genome project. Ion Torrent fully mets the final criteria.
Foster City = Buh-Bye
Well based on GL and his rants all over the idiot mainstream media, the quota should be around 200 ion torrent machines per rep... per quarter...
"That post was dead on ! But it is indeed missing the part about the divide between field sales and management. Very similar to the new poor and rich divide".
it looks like LT is doing nothing positive (again) but field sales (most companies) needed a shake up. They were order takers and did nothing but whine if they did not have a full deck of already sold customers.Good luck selling all of the ionTorrent and other stellar new purchases for PDx.
Add to this mix the fact that LIFE Technologies uses a business model that constantly increases the load on its employees to gain higher efficiencies to drive down overhead and maximize profit, and the cost of this is that core competencies are severely hurt. It is an extremely exhausting environment.
That post was dead on ! But it is indeed missing the part about the divide between field sales and management. Very similar to the new poor and rich divide.
Life is Bio-Rad with a couple more fraudulent patents as goodwill. In the end, both are aggregates - composites and collectors of scientific history with the occasional stab at new technology. Nothing new driven from within - making pennies and beaten owerworked employess - goals.
Funny about the guy calling me names like "pseudo-intellectual" when nothing I've said purports intellect that nor have my "rants" had anything to do with me for that matter.
Now despite denying it, you continue to insinuate that people who have lost their jobs at Life Tech were inferior and deserving of what happened to them, and conclude with the banality that they must then just accept it. Well let me postulate something for you to consider - I'll bet most of the pople laid off in the last rounds have had one or more 360 degree evalvuations themselves, and I'll bet the vast majority of them were just as laudatory as you claim yours to be. What would you say about that? Any reason you should still be working and they are not?
And I don't think they have any questions about "dim" on those things by the way - but you seem to be rather sensitive on the point.
way too eloquent you must be an investor!
