Ion is dead after the merger in January
All these Ion haters on this blog are probably ILMN sales reps wondering why they keep loosing sales to the PGM. They are hoping that it would just go away. I think TMO will keep and develop Ion after the merger and it will destroy the Miseq

Ion still can't come up with the P2 chip more than a year late now. ILMN stock keeps going higher, Ion Torrent customers are trading in their PGMs for MiSeqs over accuracy and work flow issues. The rumor was that Ion would get spun off to Roche? Now you wonder if Roche even wants it. So what becomes of Ion if there is no deal with Roche? Will TMO just keep funding a money loosing operation, try to make a go of it and fight it out with ILMN?

Funny how Life Tech fires/lays off people at the drop of a hat yet keeps people who get arrested every other week for drunk driving,drugs and other offenses. Seems everytime I read the arrest logs in the local paper theres a Life Tech employee in it.

I'm sure the forced vacation policy was vetted through the lawyers in HR before being implemented. That doesn't mean a whole bunch though, because the HR lawyers will tell the company exactly what it wants to hear. If you're really curious, best way to find out is to file a law suit. You'll probably lose your job, but at least you'll get a nice settlement to live on for a while.

Mark Macera and Jennifer Vansant need to be very careful on how they frequently bringing people in and accusing them of being seen out of the office or somewhere other than work when on the clock. This seems to be very manipulating. They are just searching for shit on people and when they can't find it, they lie! Oh yeah, Reno works great, lol, fuck that no progress has been made as far as quality or efficiency! Ship has sunk dick head, Vansant, you fell right in with the bullshit, you have no idea what's going on, open your eyes and look to the people on the floor and let them explain wtf is happening without being categorized.

Now there's someone who doesn't understand management speak. As in, "the performance of your group is immune to any cuts we might make..." means you're so overstaffed that they can cut your group in half and it would be immune. You want your group to be extremely sensitive to any cuts.
There is no such thing as immunity from cuts. Some groups are more likely than others to experience (deeper) cuts, but immunity is a pipe dream. These shake ups are always a great way to clean house.

I have not see any cuts yet but I am in genetic analysis sales. I have been told that my group is immune to any cuts due to the fact that Fisher does not have the caliber of sale people to i.e. technical expertise to replace these positions.
Poor ABI employees. Thought it was bad under Fat Tony then they get bought by Invitrogen. Lucifer cut compensation and benefits, added hours, and made everyone's life a miserable slog. So is there a light at the end of the tunnel with TMO? So far the ABI luck is running true to form. More cuts in compensation. The worst is yet to come.
Look for the normal signs, hr blocking meeting rooms, secret leadership meetings, offsite events, increased recognitions ( base cause your manager feels guilty for not doing it sooner), managers working early/late ( which is not normal in most cases) ... And most of all talk to your ops leaders, they will tell you everything that is going on because they can't handle the layoffs and are only doing it so that they are not laid off .. Most don't support the corporate "projects"

Look at the postings and consider if that is your job, once the new personis hired, they will take your job duties, assume your place in the organization and then they will find a way to move you out, either because you are too old, not the right pedigree, not a relative of gl, mod, or pl or some other poor excuse. Think about the last 5 people you have seen leave your group...things that make you go hmmm......
