They used to be #1 in the US and the world in diagnostics, then their leaders left, the FDA moved in and total incompetence followed. They continue to lose good talent and have mediocre products. And again as they did two years ago, they cut their customer-facing departments, while continuing to be so top-heavy they keep falling over themselves. The most recent reduction of 200 has established Roche as probably the only $1billion organization that does not have a true customer service department, or leader. Instead of going from "good to great", they've gone from "great to desperate".

Anyone with half a brain
Anyone with half a brain could see that moving Indy would be cost prohibitive.
While I am not a fan of MTs
While I am not a fan of MTs management style, it is true that he took a strong stand against moving Commercial Operations to NJ and that without his advocacy it is likely that many people currently employed on the Indy campus would not have jobs.
The whiners in Indianapolis
The whiners in Indianapolis should all take a moment and thank MT for still having jobs there. He was sent to close that place and move operations to New Jersey. MT made the determination that it would have been too costly, approx $1B, to make the move and that those costs might never be able to be recovered. So take your shots as you will but at the end of the day you owe MT your pitiful farmland existence.
There are some "selected

He has recruited one of his ex Roche cronies to be his COO now ... VELA Dx = Roche REJECTS ... MT's bullshit never changes, he is just full of hot air, he doesn't have a single scientist working for him ... he has been rejected multiple times over ... his reputation as an arrogant asshole and his complete incompetance is global ... VELA Dx will never take off ... it is as big of a joke as MT is himself ... it has already started with his unethical tricks and cheating investors out of their money ... it is still entertaining to watch him fail yet again ... his womanizing saga continues in Asia ...
He actually reached out to
He actually reached out to the COO of Roche first, and well, if anyone knows their history it was a stupid idea. He was in Indy a couple of months ago talking to some individuals within Roche. He has about 50-60 scientists on-board throughout the world, but those familiar with him, his work ethic, and his womanizing won't want anything to do with him. Now if they would fire the incompetence that slept with him to get their jobs.
So MT finally crawled his way
So MT finally crawled his way out of the grave and landed up at the other end of the world "Hail God" but it still couldnt be far enough. We thought he will remain unemployed forever. It should be entertaining to watch Vela Dx space, with MT's toxic presence everything he touches turns to S**T.

dudes ... finally an update .. MT is trying to start up a new Dx company in based in Singapore called VELA Dx but FAILING MISERABLY .... trying to reach out and pinch Roche Singapore staff and ex Roche satff but no one wants to work for him ... everyone is running the other was as fast as they can! his desperation can be smelt a mile away ... VELA Dx is doomed before it has even begun ... his reign of terror & unethical reputation preceeds him ... you would think this guy has learned after being fired from his last two jobs ... but he is too stupid to learn anything ... good riddance that he is gone from indy but bad for singapore ...

Nice try troll. Roche is ultraconservative when it comes to anything involving the FDA. I know first hand of an instance where a lot came in, a SEVERELY needed assay, and it failed regulatory and was abruptly scrapped. This put supply back over a month. This affected just 1 assay though. The rest were due to a not-so-flawless transition of production.
The delays have not been due to quality, they are because production of TDMs and DATs were moved to Germany from Indianapolis as well as there being a new voice picking warehouse at Indy. And then delays in spare parts are due to the earthquake and tsunami in Japan which disrupted the Hitachi factory. Unlike you, I actually work with the customers and you are just blowing smoke. If you do actually work for Roche then I only hope that you are fired soon; you are a weak link.

You mean cultural beliefs
You mean cultural beliefs like:
Hiring good people and holding them accountable?
Refusing to listen to the negative chorus of losers?
Understanding that if you don't do what your boss wants and requires, you probably won't survive?
I call those "beliefs" personal accountability.
Count me in.
Maybe you should apply to MSNBC or GE.
The are always looking for a few good socialists.
They don't like truth or accountability either.

You are absolutely right! A thread started 2 1/2 years ago has obviously turned into prophecy! Man, it's a good thing you got fired when you did because you could be in the awful position of having a job with industry leading benefits. Phew, that was a close one. I'll wave to you as you drive on 69, whilst the building burns down around me! It would be more helpful if you did your posts like this:

Wow..biofind.com please take
Wow..biofind.com please take down this site. and let Roche fall as planned. Let the people posting to this site focus their energy elsewhere. Fate will happen. The momentum is not on Roches side. But Let it be and get on with your life. Nothing is as it once was. People and times and the economy has changed.
If you Made 75K you may be happy with 32K. But find your own direction. Roche this and Roche that will not make your richer or happier. Just avoid working for this company and the way of thinking that its unhappy workers has "got it where it is" Be bigger and better so when Roche Indy turns into dust - Hold your head high as your cruse past a pretty green park on 69.
You two have been going at it
You two have been going at it for years. Why don't you two just get a room and shut up! Your focus on piddly stuff is an incredible a waste of time. What do you gain by trying to bash Roche? We don't use Roche in our lab, but we did before we changed buying groups. Roche has good products, and even better people. There is nothing to bash. You are so obvious a arrogant sales rep from another vendor. Didn't anyone ever tell you that we hate it when one rep is being negative about another company. That left in the 90's. I'm assuming you're an old geezer who has been selling for 20+ years. Please retire. This site being called a 'rumor mill' should be just that, not a place for sales reps to try and bash their competitors for made up piddly reasons. Grow up.
Complainers? Is it
Complainers? Is it complaining to question or debate gross ignorance or are you just another management syncophant that's been kissing hiney so long you have forgotten the difference?

"Is it a big deal that Roche compares itself to cable installers? Really? Yikes."
It is for the companies that weren't on there. Oh thats right, talented people want to work for hard core conglomerates that have no vested interest in the people that work for them. It amazes me at the stupidity that gets posted on here. No wonder you complainers were laid off or soon will be and can't get another job.
Lilly isn't worried about
Lilly isn't worried about being on the Top 10 list of best employers in Indy. They'd be worried about being best pharma nationally or internationally... but with the pipeline issues and big layoffs, it's really not going to be on anyone's list anyway. Is it a big deal that Roche compares itself to cable installers? Really? Yikes.
It tough out there and will
It tough out there and will be few a few yrs yet.
4/19/2011-Health care giant Johnson & Johnson said Tuesday its sales rebounded but its profit dropped 23 percent in the first quarter.
4/18/2011- Drugmaker Eli Lilly and Co.'s first-quarter profit fell 15 percent.
I guess both these CEO's should be let go too along with most company CEO's. Most companies are still struggling and will continue to struggle in this economy.
