Date(s) And Time(s):
May 5 2010 8:00AM - May 6 2010 5:00PM

DIA and FDA Office of Women’s Health (OWH) Host First Recruitment and Retention Conference.

Recruitment and retention issues differ for women compared to men and are likely to be unique for subgroups of women (age, ethnicity, socioeconomic factors). This conference will allow pharmaceutical companies, CROs, principal investigators, physicians, government and research institutions, and IRBs to engage in shared discussions about the recruitment and retention of women in clinical trials. Considering the multi-factorial barriers for participation of women and their retention in clinical drug trials, the conference will focus on:
— Recruitment and retention barriers for women and subgroups of women as related to age, race/ethnicity, and socio-economic factors in clinical drug trials;
— Regulatory and public health impact of under-representation of women in clinical trials
— Innovative strategies that promote improved recruitment and retention of women in clinical trials
— Current industry, CROs, principal investigators and research institutions practices to ensure adequate recruitment and retention of women in clinical trials
